Package Details
As a graduate myself, I understand that graduation is not just another achievement - it's a celebration of your self-growth and core memories! You've worked incredibly hard to get here, balancing a rigorous workload and the many curveballs that life has thrown at you so I will go above and beyond to ensure that this milestone is truly unforgettable.
That being said, I've curated special packages to help you celebrate! Each package below will include all of the details stated above, except for the Solo Mini Package. A non-refundable retainer of $75.00/person will be due in order to officially book a session date. This retainer will go towards paying your total fee.
To maintain fairness for all graduates, I cannot accommodate requests or additional payments for extra session time and edited photos beyond the agreed-upon package. My focus is on curating an intentional and personalized experience with care; not getting you in and out the door as fast as possible!
The location of your session can be at your campus or anywhere off-campus of your choosing. I cannot to travel San Diego County, UCLA, CSUN, UC Riverside, or any of the Claremont Colleges. I am only able to travel to the beach from Monday to Thursday. If I am able to travel to your chosen location(s), there may be an additional travel fee of $10.00 to $75.00 depending on the proximity and number of locations.
Pricing and contents of each package are subject to change at any time.
FAQs
Okay, I’m ready to book. What’s next?
Awesome! Fill out and submit the Interest Form. This does not guarantee you a session nor your preferred date.
Only graduates should submit this form (not the graduate's parent, family member, etc.) with their own information in order to make the booking and planning process smoother for you! If you're booking a group package, only 1 person from your group needs to submit this form.
I’ll get back to you within 24-48 hours with my availability. Once we confirm a date/time and I answer any questions you may have, a non-refundable $75.00/person retainer and formal signed agreement will be due in order to officially book your session.
Who should submit the Interest Form?
In order to make the booking and planning process as smooth as possible for you, only graduates should submit the form (NOT the graduate's parent, family member, etc.) with their own information! If you're booking a group package, only 1 person from your group needs to submit this form.
I’ve never done a photoshoot before. Can you help me pose?
Don’t stress about this at all! Most graduates that I work with are first-timers, but they always end up looking confident and amazing. My priority is to create an encouraging atmosphere so you can relax and have fun!!!
For your session, I will use your best angles, help adjust your hair and outfits, and suggest different poses that compliment you and your personality. I'll also frequently show you the photos on camera throughout your session so you won’t second-guess yourself and you can finish the session confidently. If you don't like what you see on camera, no stress at all! I'm more than happy to re-do the pose or specific shot as many times as it takes until you're 100% happy with the results.
Lastly, if you have specific poses or ideas that you’d like to try out, you can always show me your inspiration photos and I can definitely help you execute your creative vision!
How far in advance should I book my graduation portrait session?
I strongly recommend submitting the Interest Form as soon as I open up my bookings every month! I always update my website and Instagram page when my monthly bookings will open.
For spring graduates, the most popular dates (weekends and sunset time slots) usually get fully booked up by April so the earlier you submit the form, the better. This way, you’ll have more date options and you can avoid any last-minute stress.
What are the best dates to take graduation portraits?
With over seven years of experience photographing graduation portraits, my top priority is making sure your session will be fun, relaxed, and stress-free - no matter which date you choose.
When selecting a date, here are important factors to take into personal consideration!
- Events: Avoid dates when your main campus will be packed such as graduation ceremonies, concerts, sporting games, or any other major event days. For example, the UCI Bren Center will be completely blocked off on Commencement Days. Winter/spring/summer break or holidays are always a great time for little to no people on campus.
- Regalia & Outfit: Double check when your stoles, gowns, caps, hood etc. from your school and organizations will be provided. Will your outfit also be delivered on time? If you wanted to customize your stole, will it be completed on time?
- Weather & Greenery: This will be very subjective given SoCal’s unpredictable weather pattern. In general, March and April may have cooler weather for walking, peak blooming season for flowers, and fresh greenery around campus. May and June may be warmer and have less flowers.
- Academic & Work Obligations: Avoid any stressful midterm and finals dates, or long work shifts. Try to block off the entire day so can have a full day of fun and self-care, and also have more time to get ready without rushing.
- Family & Friends: Coordinate dates with your family and friends if you want them to join for support and/or group photos. Due to the popularity of certain photo spots such as the CSULB 'Go Beach' letters and CSUF arch sign, I highly recommend bringing a guest who can wait in line for you while we take photos at other spots, especially if it is an important photo spot for you.
- Photo Delivery: Lastly, you should consider when you need your photos delivered. The turnaround time for your edited photos is about 2 weeks after you choose your photos. If you need the final gallery delivered by a specific deadline (i.e. invitations, prints, social media posts), then be sure to pick your session date accordingly. If you aren’t able to secure your preferred date and you need a few photos urgently, then let me know and I can definitely help you out!
That being said, here are my recommendations!
- Any CSU school, Chapman University, USC, and other spring graduates: I highly recommend your session date is before April 15th or after commencement week is over. If your session date is between mid-April to commencement week, I recommend picking Monday to Thursday because it will have less crowds and shorter lines for the popular spots.
- Any UC school spring graduates: I highly recommend your session date is before May 15th or after commencement week is over. If your session date is between mid-May to commencement week, I recommend picking Monday to Thursday because it will have less crowds and shorter lines for the popular spots.
- All fall and winter graduates: I recommend picking summer break, winter break, any Friday, or any weekend so there are little to no students walking in the background.
I've been photographing graduates at various schools across SoCal since 2018 so I have plenty of experience navigating common challenges like crowds and busy photo spots. There's no need to worry about these minor issues! We can easily work around busy areas, and I can also edit people or distractions out in the background whenever possible to keep the focus on you.
I booked a weekday for my session and I'm worried campus will be too crowded. will this be a problem?
If your session date falls between April and the end of June, weekdays are actually a great day to take graduation portraits! During peak graduation season, weekdays will have shorter wait times at the popular photo spots.
Most of my sessions are scheduled on weekdays because there’s more availability, and the graduates are always able to get all of the portraits they want without any issue.
Since weekends are a very popular time for graduates to take their portraits, we may need to navigate a few more people. That being said, it's completely doable! We just have to be a little patient and creative with angles at the busier spots.
Waiting a moment for a good spot or for people to walk by is never a problem; I always make sure you get every single portrait that you want before we wrap up your session!
No matter which day you choose, I have seven years of experience working around these small challenges. We can easily work around crowds, and I can also edit people or distractions out of the background whenever possible.
What are your cancellation and rescheduling policies?
A non-refundable retainer of $75.00/person will be due in order to officially book a session. This is not an additional fee; this will go towards paying your total fee. Unless it’s an emergency, you must notify me of any changes in the time, date, location, or cancellation at least 18 days prior to your scheduled date.
In the event of cancellation less than 18 days prior to your scheduled date, you will have to forfeit the retainer.
In the event of rescheduling, you must notify me 18 days prior to your scheduled session date. If you request to reschedule your session with less than 18 days’ notice, there will be a $25.00 rescheduling fee. This fee helps cover the loss of business from having reserved your original session date and turning away other clients. Exceptions may be made in the case of emergencies (e.g., medical, family, or travel-related), and the $25.00 fee may be waived at my discretion, depending on the circumstances.
I completely understand that life happens sometimes; I just ask that you’re respectful of my time and communicate with me as soon as you can so we can figure it out together!
Am I able to reschedule if the weather is cloudy and/or rainy?
If the weather is cloudy and I am fully booked, we will have to move forward as scheduled.
I am experienced in working with a variety of weather conditions to produce great portraits for you! In fact, overcast weather can provide a soft and even light for your portraits. Be sure to check out my entire portfolio beforehand!
If the weather forecast reports a high chance of rain on the session day, I will reach out beforehand to provide options for you to reschedule at no additional cost! However, it's best to wait 24 hours before your session to consider rescheduling. If it still states a very high chance of rain the day before or the day of, then we can definitely reschedule.
Am I able to change the type of package after I officially book with you?
As long as you officially book your session with the formally signed agreement and retainer, you can change the package up until 5 days before your scheduled session. I just need adequate notice in advance so I can adjust my schedule and your session time!
What are the policies for bringing props?
Props are not necessary at all (except for your graduation stoles/sashes of course), but they're a great way to personalize your portraits! I welcome any kind of props, but I do my best to be an eco-friendly photographer. That being said, I do not allow plastic/metallic confetti, 'biodegradable paper' confetti, colored smoke sticks, or any type of glitter.
Unfortunately, plastic waste can take anywhere from 20-500 years to decompose, and paper waste can also take anywhere from 4-8 months to decompose. Even then, it never fully disappears; it just gets smaller and smaller.
I only allow rice paper confetti or natural flower petals which both look great in photos! If we are taking photos off-campus in a public area, I do not allow any type of confetti, glitter, colored smoke sticks, or spraying any liquids due to external rules and regulations.
What are the policies on bringing guests for group photos?
You’re more than welcome to bring any graduating or non-graduating guests (family, friends, significant other, pets, etc.) to your session; the more the merrier! Your guests may also wear their regalia such as stoles. However, the Solo Mini Package only permits non-graduating guests, regardless of whether they wear their regalia or not.
There’s also no time limit on group photos or quantitative limit on photos taken! They may either stay with you the entire session to help you out and take a group photo at every spot, or they can stop by at a single spot for 5 minutes to take quick group photos.
As per the package you select for your session, the allotted time is limited so we have to be very mindful of time. In addition, you may not bring your entire organization (i.e. club, sorority, board members) with you, and guests aren’t allowed to take solo photos and/or bring digital cameras.
When will I receive the final edited photos?
I completely understand the anticipation of seeing your final photos, and also understand that you may need them urgently for a deadline. You'll receive the watermarked proofs within 1-2 days following your session so you can choose which photos you'd like to be edited. I will deliver the edited gallery about 2 weeks after you choose your photos, depending on the volume of images and the complexity of editing required. If you need the edited photos delivered for a specific deadline (i.e. prints, invitations, social media posts), then just let me know in advance and I'd be more than happy to help you out!
Do you offer the unedited or "RAW" files?
I do not provide the unedited photos and "RAW" files, and they are not available for purchase. These are unprocessed files that require editing to reach their full potential.
I understand that these photos are an important part of celebrating this iconic milestone! That being said, I am more than happy to provide you all of the watermarked "proofs" via a private online gallery. "Proofs" are all of the unedited photos taken during your session that you may download for free as your memory keepsake. However, the proofs will have a large watermark on them in order to protect my work. Thank you for your understanding!
After you select your photos from the "proofs" gallery, I will edit them in my photography style as seen in my portfolio, and then I will deliver you the final photos without a watermark.
Do you offer physical prints?
Do you offer payment plans or discounts?
I do not offer payment plans at this time. A non-refundable retainer fee of $75.00/person will be due in order to officially book a session date. This is not an additional fee; this will go towards paying your total balance. Right after we wrap up your session, the remainder of your balance will be due on-site. However, I have a discounted package called the "Solo Mini Package" - perfect for busy solo grads who only need a few quality photos! You can read more about it above in the 'Package Details' section above.
Are graduation sessions available all year round?
Yes! I do graduation sessions all year round.
